Mimico Children’s Choir Now Accepting New Choristers in Grades 1 – 7

For nearly a decade, the Mimico Children’s Choir has been providing accessible, high quality musical education in a nurturing, community setting. ACTION ALERT – Write Metrolinx NOW to support Mimico GO Station

In early 2016, we were told improvements to Mimico GO station would begin in 2016, however in an Aug 2016 Metrolinx update, we learned that detailed design & construction is scheduled for 2018 to early 2021.This is a full two years later than we were told 6 months ago, and completion is four years later.

Mimico Station accessibility has been an ongoing issue for many years and delaying the improvements is not an option. See link to draft letter.

Culture Days

Date: Sep 30  – Oct 2, 2016

Once a year cultural days occurs in 900 communities across Canada. Culture Days is a collaborative Canada wide movement raising awareness, accessibility, participation, and engagement of all Canadians in the arts and cultural life of their communities.
The weekend features free hands-on, interactive activities that give participants a “Behind the scenes” look into the arts and cultural base of the local community.

Shore Line Towers Community Awareness Meeting

Date: Wednesday October 19

Come out to hear the latest update on Shore line Towers proposed new development, and the OMB decision.

Family Halloween Dance (HOSTED by the MRA)

Date: Saturday October 29
Time: 6:30-8:30 PM
Location: St Leo’s gym

Come out in costume to enjoy this fun family event.  Tickets are $5 each (children age 3 and under are free), or $20 for a family of 5. Advance ticket purchase recommended – order online here! Tickets can also be purchased at the door.
There will be candy and refreshments available to purchase, as well as a craft table.  Proceeds go to our Community Projects Fund.

Mimico Pumpkin Parade

Date: Tuesday, November 1,
Time: 6- 8:30 PM
Location: Mimico Square-2445 Lakeshore Blvd West.

Bring your Jack-O-Lanterns to light up Mimico Square and Amos Waites Park on Tuesday November 1st beginning at 6pm.  Please bring your own lighter and candles.  Volunteers will load the pumpkins into bins for composting the following morning.  Sponsored by the Mimico by the Lake BIA.
